9pm Friday night and my girlfriend and I have decided to take my sister who’s flown into town from Australia for a week to visit sky chill bar, advertised as one of the world’s finest club, and winner of the world luxury restaurant 2018(fun fact, after the experience I went to the award website because I couldn’t believe an organization could give an award away soo recklessly and saw the winner for 2018 was from ireland - happy to be corrected if I am wrong) could provide their customers with such a cheated experience. Go to a luxury bar and you can expect the price to fit the bill so let’s move away from that to begin with.

The overview service of staff was polite; Not welcoming, but acceptable since generally these places target foreigners not Vietnamese however I commend the security team who did a good job to blend in and keep a natural feel to a bar. We were presented a menu but was told the only options were fresh fruit plater, cheese plate, salted nuts and popcorn. Let’s put this in perspective; An award winning bar that can offer 4/23 of it’s menu but I am a patient man so the cheese plate it was.

Drinks were hoegaarden rosee, bottega prosecco baut and torres, vina esmeralda of course for cheese pairing and torres is sweet, a good desert wine. The cheese plate was dispicable. No placement of the food, just thrown together, bread was hard dry store baught except for a few edges which had been soaking in the moisture of some of the strawberries which happened to land near there.served with cheap wooden meet skewers. And so i found myself asking yet again, award winning bar but serves a cheese plate without a knife? But why stop there, a sip of the torres and I knew that the award winning bar lacked wine storage knowledge and/or experience evident by the sour taste instead of fruity sweetness and slight fiz. Either this wine has been opened for too long and oxidized or just poorly stored.

The music was very much targeted to an older audience as I reminisce to backstreet boys and other 90s classics however didn’t exactly portray the atmosphere described online. Finally whilst the view is really what you are paying for, an amount close to 2mil VND was spent in the duration of 30 minutes and you’re left feeling like Bitexco could of provided a better view and experience. Bars like Toohai whilst is no more had much better musical vibe and the same roofless atmosphere.
